RALEIGH, North Carolina: A fatigued Usain Bolt will wait until this weekend to decide whether or not to compete in China and South Korea later this month, his agent told Reuters on Wednesday, rebuffing media reports the worlds fastest man had canceled his Asian trip.
Green-Ellis Super Bowl Jersey . Usain Bolt of Jamaica waves after winning the mens 200 metres race at the IAAF Golden League Memorial Van Damme athletics meeting in Brussels September 4, 2009. [Agencies] I have informed both organisers in Shanghai and Korea (Daegu) that we will continue to analyse his performance until after the world athletics final (in Thessaloniki, Greece on Sunday), and see how he is, Ricky Simms said in a telephone interview from London. Triple Olympic and world champion Bolt is scheduled to run 100 metres races in Shanghai on September 20 and Daegu on September 25 after competing in a 200 metres at Thessaloniki. The 23-year-old Jamaican said after recent meetings in Zurich and Brussels the long season in which he broke both his 100 and 200 metres world records has left him fatigued. Hes a jewel in the crown of athletics... hes the golden man... and hopefully can run for 10 years, so we dont need to over race him this year, Simms told Reuters. Yes, he could earn good money (in Asia) but it is very important that he not over do it this year. It will be pretty much after Sunday, when we make a decision, Simms said. The trip to Asia, if he makes it, would be Bolts first since his eye-catching, triple gold performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in which he set world records in the 100 and 200 metres and led Jamaica to a world mark in the 4x100 metres relay. Tweet Fantasy Forecast for Tuesday, March 9 MONDAYS ROUNDUP: The Blue Jackets are likely to play on Wednesday without two of their leading goal scorers and a pair of popular fantasy players. Rick Nash and Kristian Huselius are not expected to face the Ducks in Anaheim. Huselius (60 games, 17-30-47, owned in 65 percent of all Yahoo! leagues) has a hand injury that also kept him out of Mondays 6-0 loss at Los Angeles. In that contest, Nash played only the first period because of what the team called a lower-body injury, believed to be an ankle injury stemming from a hit from Jarret Stoll. Nash (66, 28-29-57, 99 percent) confirmed to the Columbus Dispatch that hes been nursing a couple nagging injuries since the March 2 game against Vancouver. On Tuesday morning, the Blue Jackets recalled forward prospects Derek MacKenzie and Maksim Mayorov from AHL Syracuse. Sticking with the bad-news Jackets, the team now has a League-leading 10 in-game goaltender changes thanks to Steve Masons (47, 16-21-7, 4 SO, 3.15 GAA, 71 percent) meltdown in the loss to the Kings. He allowed four goals on 13 shots and was pulled at 15:19 of the first period, replaced by Mathieu Garon. Columbus had been tied with Ottawa with nine changes. Pittsburgh is third with eight. Garon (29, 9-9-4, 2 SO, 2.89 GAA, 7 percent) will start on Tuesday at Anaheim. It will be his first start since Feb. 14, and he hasnt posted a win since Jan. 30. Fantasy owners of Bruins center Marc Savard shouldnt activate the Bruins center for the time being. Savard (41, 10-23-33, 81 percent) has been diagnosed with a grade two concussion and will be monitored by the Bruins medical staff for five days before they offer an update on his prognosis. Savard suffered the injury on Sunday against Pittsburgh. NHL.coms John McGourty has more on Savard in this story. As for Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask (30, 14-8-4, 3 SO, 2.15 GAA, 51 percent), who has been out with a lower-body injury, he declared himself back to 100 percent after hitting the ice on Monday. "Taking those few days off and letting it settle down really made a big difference," Rask said. "I feel 100 percent right now." Despite Rasks impending return, the Boston Globe reports that Tim Thomas (38, 15-16-7, 4 SO, 2.47 GAA, 89 percent) was the first player to leave the ice during Tuesdays morning skate, a sign that he will start in goal against the Maple Leafs. His opposition will be rookie Jonas Gustavsson (33, 10-13-8, 1 SO, 2.99 GAA, 15 percent). fantasy@nhl.com NHL.COMS FANTASY INDEX › COMPLETE FANTASY FORECAST ARCHIVE › The Arizona Republic reports recently acquired defenseman Mathieu Schneider has yet to play for the Coyotes because of a minor knee injury he suffered in the AHL. Schneider (17, 2-3-5, 7 percent), who played his last AHL game on Jan. 23, skated hard at Coyotes practice on Monday and said he is fine. He could be activated by Phoenix next week. Tons going on in Nashville. For starters, backup goalie Dan Ellis (28, 13-12-1, 1 SO, 2.65 GAA, 19 percent) gets Tuesdays start at Atlanta against Johan Hedberg (35, 16-10-5, 1 SO, 2.66 GAA, 24 percent). Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov (51, 7-14-21, 8 percent), who has played only four games since being acquired in a trade from Edmonton, will be sidelined for one to two weeks with a lower-body injury. Fellow defenseman Shea Weber (62, 12-24-36, 97 percent) is doubtful to return from his arm injury. Predators coach Barry Trotz has also made sweeping changes to his forward lines, according to the Tennessean. The new top unit has rookie Colin Wilson (18, 3-3-6, zero percent) with veterans Jason Arnott and Martin Erat. Other trios are Steve Sullivan, Marcel Goc and Patric Hornqvist; some combination of J.P. Dumont, Dustin Boyd, Cal OReilly and Jordin Tootoo; and Jerred Smithson, David Legwand and Joel Ward. If you find Maple Leafs center Mikhail Grabovski in your leagues free agent pool, give him a shot if youre in need of offense. The youngster is expected to play on Tuesday at home against Boston, his first game since sitting out 23 games with a broken wrist. "Im excited, my wrist is OK and Im ready to play," Grabovski (42, 7-18-25, 10 percent) told the Toronto Star. "There was a lot of contact (Monday) (two assistant coaches spent half an hour working him in one-on-one battles along the boards). My wrist is sore, buut its normal.
Wes Welker Youth Jersey. "The last 17 games, I want to play hard, like usual. It doesnt matter which line Im on." Overshadowed by the 16-game point streak of teammate Steven Stamkos is a 10-game surge by hard-nosed Lightning winger Steve Downie (62, 16-23-39, 55 percent). He is 5-8-13 with a plus-9 and 35 penalty minutes in the streak Montreal goalie Jaroslav Halak (32, 19-10-2, 3 SO, 2.49 GAA, 59 percent) makes his third straight start on Tuesday at home against Tampa Bay. Flyers left wing Scott Hartnell (63, 12-24-36, 81 percent) has only 1 goal in his last 18 games and 12 for the season. Its been a disappointing season for the agitator who scored a career-high 30 last season. "It hasnt been the year I dreamt of," Hartnell told the Philadelphia Daily News. "Its a little frustrating, for sure. Hopefully, the goals will come. Hopefully, its a matter of time." The trade deadline in my fantasy league is on Wednesday. I have been e-mailed by another team owner that he is willing to trade his Jonas Hiller or Antti Niemi for my Jean-Sebastien Giguere or Jimmy Howard. Which deal should I make? My other goalie is Martin Brodeur. Will either/any trade help me? Thanks for all the input this season and great work! -- Polski So youre looking at four different proposals … Hiller for Giguere; or Hiller for Howard; or Niemi for Giguere; or Niemi for Howard. But since youd be crazy to deal Howard (47 games, 24-14-8, 1 SO, 2.37 GAA) -- hes arguably the best of the four goalies -- theres really only two deals to consider, and you should rush to compete one before the other guy changes his mind. First ask for Hiller (49, 26-19-3, 2 SO, 2.76 GAA), and if the other owner balks, ask for Niemi (24, 17-5-1, 4 SO, 2.25 GAA) for Giguere (20, 4-8-5, 1 SO, 3.14). Either would be a definite upgrade. Hiller should be your first target because he starts regularly and the Ducks are fighting for a playoff spot. Niemi might be the premier backup netminder in the League, and hes one Cristobal Huet meltdown from taking his starting job. Even if Huet keeps it together as Chicagos No. 1, Niemi will get to play more often than the average NHL backup. --------------------- Have a fantasy question you want answered?
