"Fashion is all about eventually becoming naked”. And Madhur Bhandarkar's brand new 'Fashion' justly reveals both the glittery and dark sides of fashion industry. All hopes with this realistic movie were on fire till the curtain rose, and like every time, the movie catch up the expectations of the people. Fashion is Madhur's another uncompromising film that enlightens, moves, encourages and deflates people, besides entertaining them. Apart from the powerful script and plot, Fashion works as it brings alive everything that happen behind the camera, modeling, business, endorsements and ramp -shows.

Bhandarkar has not only handled the subject brilliantly, but also has infused life in its beautifully dressed mannequins. Throughout the movie, there are a number of sequences that leave you speechless. Priyanka Chopra, as Meghna -the leading lady, has done justice to her role, and in fact, Fashion can be stated as a landmark of her career. Seeing the fact that the movie is all about the fashion industry, the plot is inexorably packed with lots of glam-n-glitz moments. Madhur has captured the storyline like an insider, and two major sequences of Kangna's wardrobe malfunction and Arbaaz’s exposition to his wife by Priyanka are the best ones.

The cinematography of Mahesh Limaye is brilliant, and likewise the screenplay is just perfect, barring the penultimate portions. The costumes and styling of the models certainly match the hottest trends of the market. Salim-Sulaiman's music is also synchronised well with the plot and numbers like 'Mar Jaava' and 'Jalwa' have already hit the crowd. Kangna is another star who can be seen in her best act. Mugdha Godse and Arbaaz Khan have also appeared more confident than ever before. Arjan Bajwa, Harsh Chhaya, Samir Soni, Suchitra Pillai and Kittu Gidwani have overall done a good job.

Generally speaking, Fashion with its subject and bold drama has already made its mark amongst the audiences. On the whole, this great and enlightening movie is worth watching in theatres.

Fashion Pre-release Review

Willing to take a peek into the ruthless world of haute couture fashion? Welcome to 'Fashion', Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming directorial venture, based on the world of modeling, set to hit the theaters on 14th November 2008. It has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala and will be released under the banner of 'Bhandarkar Entertainment' and 'UTV Motion Pictures'. Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant have provided the music for the film, with Irfan Siddique and Sandeep Nath are the lyricists.

The star cast of 'Fashion' includes names like Priyanka Chopra, Arjan Bajwa, Kangna Ranaut, Mugdha Godse, Arbaaz Khan, Harsh Chhaya, Sameer Soni and Kitu Gidwani. Apart from that, it will also see guest appearances by Karan Johar, Madhur Bhandarkar and Manish Malhotra. The movie is about the journey of a Supermodel, who reaches the pinnacle of success and comes crashing down, only to rise like a phoenix again. 'Fashion' revolves around Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra), a middle class girl with dreams in her eyes.

Though Meghna had a humble background, her dreams were anything, but 'humble'. Right from the time she started understanding the world, she knew that she was meant to be 'somebody'. Brought in a small north Indian town, by conservative parents, she had the dream of making it big in the 'city of lights'. Meghna was nothing, if not ambitious. She had stars in her eyes and one dream - of being 'famous', in the world of 'fashion', with the sizzling ramp, stunning costumers and cameras clicking all around!

For Meghna, going to the top never meant having to make any compromises. She wanted to go against the norm and was set on proving the fact that intelligent women could be glamorous too, that too much more than the bimbettes. It was not before long that she reached the position she desired - the 'top'. She was at the peak of her success, walking the ramp for the leading designers across India. Parties, brand endorsements, photographers, models, romance and loads of ramp shows - she had it all.

Reaching the top is very easy, but staying there…next to impossible. Soon, Meghna started to realize the truth behind this statement. She slowly started to pay the price for her fame and her journey to the top. As she went tumbling down the path of success, she dared to dream again. This time, she wanted a comeback, which no one believed would happen. However, Meghna never had the word 'impossible' in her dictionary. Will she attain her dreams once again? More importantly, will she be able to retain her position this time? The release of the movie will provide us the answers soon.
